Location :
The one of the famous temple of South Tamilnadu is Irrukangudi MariammanTemple located in Sattur of Kamaraj District. It is situated 8Kms away from Tiruchendur highways. North of this temple is Archuna River flowing from Mahalinga Malai. There is another river running south of this temple is Vaipparu.
History :
Once it was said that a farm girl suffered to take her basket kept in a place. She shouted for help. At that time, that girl got the full power of Amman and asked the public to build a temple at that place with the hidden statue underground. Thus the people searched for the statue and finally they got it too. Immediately they built the temple and started worshipping Irrukangudi Mariamman.
